This book defies categorization. I went into it on a recommendation from Brandice. I hesitated, because I know she likes straight up smut. But this isn’t a romance novel, at least not in the sense that I think of romance novels. The sex and the love are just touching details that illuminate this epic.
The book is 100 stories in one. The heroine is lovable, relatable, real. The details of every life exquisitely frame the enticing plot. The revelations are chilling. The possible time-travel theories and witch hunt hypotheses are SO fun to wonder about. The historical references and implications are fascinating. It’s not just a novel that takes place in history, it’s a novel that let’s history affect its characters in very real and intriguing ways. There are so many layers to this book; they unfold at the perfect speed, drawing you into the story.
Love love love love, cannot wait to read the other books in the series.
