Crippingly Important Massachusetts Restaurant

My aunt and uncle lived, actually still live, in Peabody, and so we’d always pass Hilltop, which is in Saugus, on Route 1 on our way to visit them. There was always much remarking on the line that went all the way around the restaurant, in a “we would never wait in that kind of line, are those people crazy” kind of way, but even as a child I suspected it was because my parents thought Hilltop was “expensive.” We usually went instead to Godfried’s Deli, which no longer exists, where I learned about blintzes.

I just realized I need to take Tim here (and any other New Yorkers who are deprived).
